Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Canadian
Smart Grid technologies company ASAT Solutions Inc. launched
its new DAPserver™ at the 17th CEPSI –
Conference of Electric Power Supply Industry in Macau, China, on
October 27, 2008.
 ASAT Solutions Inc. released the
new DAPserver™ to address the increasing need for
upgrading legacy substations to Smart Substations by electric power
utilities. The DAPserver™ is a platform technology
that powers the Digital Dashboard for Smart Substations, allowing
utilities to implement Smart Grid using a migration approach.
The DAPserver™ utilizes
the latest PowerPC embedded technologies, and is a new addition
to ASAT’s original Digital Automation Platform (DAP) product
family based on Intel X86 and PC104 platforms. “The
DAPserver™ was developed in responds to customers’
needs for a truly embedded substation hardened server platform for
their Smart Grid initiative,” explains Manford Kwan, President
and CEO of ASAT Solutions Inc, “DAPserver™
is the engine behind the Digital Substation Dashboard for Smart
Substations.”
With DAPserver™, utilities
users can integrate legacy and new intelligent electronic devices
(IEDs) from various manufacturers. It integrates all data onto a
central platform, delivering the much needed critical information
for power substation and equipment operation, maintenance and asset
management. It also enables utilities to migrate the legacy substation
systems to Smart Substations with minimal modification, risk and
costs.
