DAPgateway™
is an IEC-61850 software application
that operates on DAPserver™
hardware platforms. DAPgateway™ is designed
specifically for integrating IEC-61850
IEDs with existing legacy IEDs and substation systems.
Acting as a communication gateway, DAPgateway™
maps IEC-61850 data objectives
to conventional SCADA protocols. DAPgateway™
makes possible the upgrade of legacy systems to IEC-61850
standard systems, facilitates migration to Smart
Substations, and enables Smart
Grid. As outlined by the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) Framework and Roadmap
for Smart Grid Interoperability standards, one of
the key standards for Smart
Grid deployment is the IEC-61850.
